Kevin Skinner – Founder

Leaving school in 1968, Kevin qualified as a joiner before setting up the firm with John Kennaugh in 1979. Kevin has vast knowledge of construction methods, especially on more traditional Manx buildings. Having taken more of a back-seat, he works mostly on a consultancy basis and maintains relationships with the firm’s long-established clients.

Outside of work, Kevin enjoys walking and cycling, maintaining classic and vintage vehicles (including the firm’s 1949 Ford Fordson pick-up) and horticulture.

Doug Skinner – Managing Director

Doug is Kevin’s son and grew up in and around the firm, working on site at weekends and during school holidays. After graduating from university, Doug trained as a Chartered Accountant, before joining the firm as a non-executive director, becoming a shareholder in 2012 and an executive director in July 2013.

Outside of work Doug enjoys boating and golf and is the Chairman of Port St Mary Golf Club.

Doug also sits on the Executive Committee of the Isle of Man Employers’ Federation.

Terry Fox – Operations Director

Terry ran his own building firm in the UK for 20 years before moving to the Isle of Man in 1998. Since moving to the island Terry has been involved in many prestigious schemes, including the renovation of Douglas Town Hall, the Sound Café and several apartment complexes and large houses. In 2005 Terry began working in Castletown and was head of the team that built Callow’s Yard and renovated Lorne House.

Outside of work Terry is a sports car enthusiast and at weekends can be seen travelling the Manx roads in either his Ultima or his Porsche.

Rob Longden – Contracts Director

Rob has been a member of the team at Kennaugh & Skinner since 2013. He joined us after an extensive joinery career, and his recent promotion to Contracts Manager has enabled him to use those skills alongside his wider industry experience to ensure the successful completion of all aspects of our client’s projects.

Gillian Weldon – Office Manager

Gillian joined Kennaugh & Skinner in 2016, prior to this she spent 12 years working as an Events & Communications Manager for an international insurance company. Her organisational skills ensure the smooth running of the administration side of the business, and she will likely be the first person you interact with when you contact us.

Gill is enjoying working for a local family owned business and interacting with our clients throughout their projects.

Susan Ashurst – Accounts Manager

Susan is the newest member of our team and she joins us after many years working within a payroll and accounts environment in the shipping industry.She is enthusiastic to learn about a new industry while bringing her existing skills and experience to the company.
